Jesus (Joshua) Christ (Messiah), The Same Yesterday, Today, Yes And Forever

The apostle Paul was inspired to write the letter to the Hebrews to give us a clear understanding of the new covenant. By the time he had written these words Joshua (Jesus) Messiah (Christ) had given His life for a sin sacrifice, risen from the dead, and was seated at the right hand of God the Father sharing His Glory and Throne. He is the same today!

Hebrews 1:1-3 (NASB)
God, after He spoke long ago to the fathers in the prophets in many portions and in many ways, [2] in these last days has spoken to us in His Son, whom He appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the world. [3] And He is the radiance of His glory and the exact representation of His nature, and upholds all things by the word of His power.
When He had made purification of sins, He sat down at the right hand of the Majesty on high

Hebrews 12:2 (NASB)
fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith, who for the joy set before Him
endured the cross
, despising the shame,
and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God

Hebrews 8:1-2 (NASB)
Now the main point in what has been said is this: we have such a high priest, who has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens
, [2] a minister in the sanctuary, and in the true tabernacle, which the Lord pitched, not man.

Shortly before Jesus was killed He prayed to the Father in regard to His Own glory and His being with the Father before the creation of the world.
John 17:5 (NASB)
“And now, glorify Thou Me together with Thyself, Father, with the glory which I had with Thee before the world was.

He is now glorified with His Father in heaven! Notice the description shown to us by the vision given to the apostle John in the Revelation of Jesus Christ.

Rev. 1:1 (NASB)
Revelation of Jesus Christ
, which God gave Him to show to His bond-servants, the things which must shortly take place; and He sent and communicated it by His angel to His bond-servant John,

Rev. 1:9-18 (NASB)
I, John, your brother and fellow partaker in the tribulation and kingdom and perseverance which are in Jesus, was on the island called Patmos, because of the word of God and the testimony of Jesus. [10] I was in the Spirit on the Lord’s day, and I heard behind me a loud voice like the sound of a trumpet, [11] saying, “Write in a book what you see, and send it to the seven churches: to Ephesus and to Smyrna and to Pergamum and to Thyatira and to Sardis and to Philadelphia and to Laodicea.” [12] And I turned to see the voice that was speaking with me. And having turned I saw seven golden lampstands; [13] and in the middle of the lampstands one like a son of man, clothed in a robe reaching to the feet, and girded across His breast with a golden girdle. [14]
And His head and His hair were white like white wool, like snow; and His eyes were like a flame of fire;
and His feet were like burnished bronze, when it has been caused to glow in a furnace
, and His voice was like the sound of many waters. [16] And in His right hand He held seven stars; and out of His mouth came a sharp two-edged sword;
and His face was like the sun shining in its strength
. [17] And when I saw Him, I fell at His feet as a dead man. And He laid His right hand upon me, saying, “Do not be afraid; I am the first and the last, [18] and the living One; and I was dead, and behold, I am alive forevermore, and I have the keys of death and of Hades.

Peter, John and his brother James had whitnessed Jesus (Joshua) Christ (Messiah) glorified in “the holy mount”.

2 Peter 1:16-18 (NASB)
For we did not follow cleverly devised tales when we made known to you the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ,
but we were eyewitnesses of His majesty
. [17] For when He received honor and glory from God the Father, such an utterance as this was made to Him by the Majestic Glory, “This is My beloved Son with whom I am well-pleased”– [18] and we ourselves heard this utterance made from heaven
when we were with Him on the holy mountain

The account of this event is written in the Matthew, Mark and Luke.

Luke 9:27-29 (NASB)
“But I say to you truthfully, there are some of those standing here who shall not taste death until they see the kingdom of God.”
[28] And some eight days after these sayings, it came about that
He took along Peter and John and James, and went up to the mountain to pray
. [29] And while He was praying,
the appearance of His face became different, and His clothing became white and gleaming

Matthew 17:2-9 (KJV)
And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light.

Mark 9:3 (KJV)
And his raiment became shining
exceeding white as snow
; so as no fuller on earth can white them.

[3] And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him. [4] Then answered Peter, and said unto Jesus, Lord, it is good for us to be here: if thou wilt, let us make here three tabernacles; one for thee, and one for Moses, and one for Elias. [5] While he yet spake, behold,
a bright cloud overshadowed them
: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him. [6] And when the disciples heard it, they fell on their face, and were sore afraid. [7] And Jesus came and touched them, and said, Arise, and be not afraid. [8] And when they had lifted up their eyes, they saw no man, save Jesus only. [9] And as they came down from the mountain, Jesus charged them, saying, Tell the vision to no man, until the Son of man be risen again from the dead.

The description of a glorified Joshua (Jesus) Messiah (Christ) is a physical description of Spirit God.

John 4:24 (KJV)
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

2 Cor. 3:17 (NASB)
Now the Lord is the Spirit; and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.

Jesus (Joshua) Christ(Messiah) is the exact image of God the Father!

Hebrews 1:1-3 (KJV)
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, [2] Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; [3]
Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person
, and upholding all things by the word of his power, when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high;

2 Cor. 4:4 (NASB)
in whose case the god of this world has blinded the minds of the unbelieving, that they might not see the light of the gospel of
the glory of Christ, who is the image of God

John 1:18 (NASB)
No man has seen God at any time; the only begotten God, who is in the bosom of the Father, He has explained Him.

Philip. 2:5-6 (NASB)
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in
Christ Jesus
, [6]
who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God
a thing to be grasped,

Col. 1:13-15 (NASB)
For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son, [14] in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. [15]
And He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation

He is the same yesterday!

Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.

Jesus (Joshua) Christ (Messiah – Anointed), the Word God.

John 1:1 (NASB)
In the beginning was the Word,
and the Word was with God, and the Word was God

The Word, the One Who became the only begotten Son of God.

John 1:14 (KJV)
And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of
the only begotten of the Father
,) full of grace and truth.

The apostle Peter confirms the fact that “before the foundation of the world” God (Word and God) planned for us to be redeemed by the sacrifice of Joshua (Jesus) Messiah (Christ). Before anything physical was created it was purposed that the Word should become Jesus (Joshua) Christ (Messiah).

1 Peter 1:17-21 (NASB)
And if you address as Father the One who impartially judges according to each man’s work, conduct yourselves in fear during the time of your stay upon earth; [18] knowing that you were not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life inherited from your forefathers, [19]
but with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ
. [20]
For He was foreknown before the foundation of the world
, but has appeared in these last times for the sake of you [21] who through Him are believers in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory, so that your faith and hope are in God.

The apostle Paul also confirms Messiah was chosen before the world was made.

Ephes. 1:3-7 (NASB)
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places in Christ, [4]
just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of the world
, that we should be holy and blameless before Him. In love [5] He predestined us to adoption as sons through Jesus Christ to Himself, according to the kind intention of His will, [6] to the praise of the glory of His grace, which He freely bestowed on us in the Beloved. [7] In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace,

God (Word and God) Glorified Spirit were together in the beginning. God’s Throne is in Heaven.

Matthew 5:34 (NASB)
“But I say to you, make no oath at all,
either by heaven, for it is the throne of God

Isaiah 66:1 (NASB)
Thus says the LORD,

“Heaven is My throne, and the earth is My footstool.

Where then is a house you could build for Me?
And where is a place that I may rest?

We are given a physical likeness of the Spiritual dwelling place of God.

Rev. 4:2-3 (NASB)
Immediately I was in the Spirit; and behold, a throne was standing in heaven, and One sitting on the throne. [3] And He who was sitting was like a jasper stone and a sardius in appearance; and there was a rainbow around the throne, like an emerald in appearance.

Ezekiel 1:26-28 (NASB)
Now above the expanse that was over their heads there was something resembling a throne, like lapis lazuli
in appearance; and on that which resembled a throne, high up, was a figure with the appearance of a man. [27] Then I noticed from the appearance of His loins and upward something like glowing metal that looked like fire all around within it, and from the appearance of His loins and downward I saw something like fire; and there was a radiance around Him. [28] As the appearance of the rainbow in the clouds on a rainy day, so was the appearance of the surrounding radiance. Such was the appearance of the likeness of the glory of the LORD. And when I saw it, I fell on my face and heard a voice speaking.
NASB, margin notes;
Heb., eben-sappir

Daniel 7:9 (NASB)
“I kept looking
Until thrones were set up,
And the Ancient of Days took His seat;
His vesture was like white snow,
And the hair of His head like pure wool.
His throne was ablaze with flames,
Its wheels were a burning fire.

The Word, the One Who is Jesus (Joshua) Christ (Messiah) is Creator.

John 1:1-3 (KJV)
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. [2] The same was in the beginning with God. [3]
All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made

John 1:10 (KJV)
He was in the world, and the world was made by him
, and the world knew him not.

1 Cor. 8:6 (NASB)
yet for us there is but one God, the Father, from whom are all things, and we exist for Him;
and one Lord, Jesus Christ, by whom are all things, and we exist through Him

Col. 1:13-18 (NASB)
For He delivered us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of
His beloved Son
, [14] in whom we have redemption, the forgiveness of sins. [15] And He is the image of the invisible God, the first-born of all creation. [16]
For by Him all things were created
, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities–
all things have been created by Him
and for Him. [17] And He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together. [18] He is also head of the body, the church; and He is the beginning, the first-born from the dead; so that He Himself might come to have first place in everything.

Genesis 1:1 (NASB)
In the beginning God
created the heavens and the earth.
* Hebrew
elohiym; the plural Hebrew word for God, Word and God are God.

Genesis 2:4 (NASB)
This is the account of the heavens and the earth when they were created, in the day that the
LORD God made earth and heaven

Jesus (Joshua) Christ (Messiah) told the Jewish leaders that He was alive before Abraham. He is the LORD God of the old testament.

John 8:49-59 (KJV)
Jesus answered, I have not a devil; but I honour my Father, and ye do dishonour me. [50] And I seek not mine own glory: there is one that seeketh and judgeth. [51] Verily, verily, I say unto you, If a man keep my saying, he shall never see death. [52] Then said the Jews unto him, Now we know that thou hast a devil. Abraham is dead, and the prophets; and thou sayest, If a man keep my saying, he shall never taste of death. [53] Art thou greater than our father Abraham, which is dead? and the prophets are dead: whom makest thou thyself? [54] Jesus answered, If I honour myself, my honour is nothing: it is my Father that honoureth me; of whom ye say, that he is your God: [55] Yet ye have not known him; but I know him: and if I should say, I know him not, I shall be a liar like unto you: but I know him, and keep his saying. [56] Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
[57] Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham? [58]
Jesus said unto them
, Verily, verily, I say unto you,
Before Abraham was,
I am
. [59] Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.

In the old testament book of Exodus we get a clear understanding of why He said, “
…, before Abrham was, I am.

Exodus 3:13-15 (KJV)
And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, What is his name? what shall I say unto them? [14]
And God said unto Moses,
: and he said,
Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel,
hath sent me unto you
. [15] And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel,
of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.

In both versions of the Holy Bible used in this study, and in others, one of the names of God is LORD [
a capital L and capital letters but smaller in size O R D, referring to the Hebrew name of God, YHWH
], the
Eternal Self Existing One

Strong’s Exhaustive Concordance:
Yehovah, Hebrew 3068, yeh-ho-vaw’; from Hebrew 1961 (hayah); (the) self-Existent or Eternal; Jehovah, Jewish national name of God :- Jehovah, the Lord. Compare Hebrew 3050 (Yahh), Hebrew 3069 (Yehovih).

Joshua (Jesus) Messiah (Christ) is LORD God the Lawgiver. He spoke the law to the children of Israel.

Exodus 19:24-20:22 (NASB)
Then the LORD said to him, “Go down and come up again, you and Aaron with you; but do not let the priests and the people break through to come up to the LORD, lest He break forth upon them.” [25] So Moses went down to the people and told them.
[20:1] Then God spoke all these words, saying,
[2] “I am the LORD your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of slavery.
[3] “You shall have no other gods before Me.
[4] “You shall not make for yourself an idol, or any likeness of what is in heaven above or on the earth beneath or in the water under the earth. [5] “You shall not worship them or serve them; for I, the LORD your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and the fourth generations of those who hate Me, [6] but showing lovingkindness to thousands, to those who love Me and keep My commandments.
[7] “You shall not take the name of the LORD your God in vain, for the LORD will not leave him unpunished who takes His name in vain.
[8] “Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. [9] “Six days you shall labor and do all your work, [10] but the seventh day is a sabbath of the LORD your God; in it you shall not do any work, you or your son or your daughter, your male or your female servant or your cattle or your sojourner who stays with you. [11] “For in six days the LORD made the heavens and the earth, the sea and all that is in them, and rested on the seventh day; therefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day and made it holy.
[12] “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be prolonged in the land which the LORD your God gives you.
[13] “You shall not murder.
[14] “You shall not commit adultery.
[15] “You shall not steal.
[16] “You shall not bear false witness against your neighbor.
[17] “You shall not covet your neighbor’s house; you shall not covet your neighbor’s wife or his male servant or his female servant or his ox or his donkey or anything that belongs to your neighbor.”
[18] And all the people perceived the thunder and the lightning flashes and the sound of the trumpet and the mountain smoking; and when the people saw it, they trembled and stood at a distance. [19] Then they said to Moses, “Speak to us yourself and we will listen; but let not God speak to us, lest we die.” [20] And Moses said to the people, “Do not be afraid; for God has come in order to test you, and in order that the fear of Him may remain with you, so that you may not sin.” [21] So the people stood at a distance, while Moses approached the thick cloud where God was.
[22] Then
the LORD said to Moses
, “Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘
You yourselves have seen that I have spoken to you from heaven

He wrote His Law with His Finger on tables of stone and gave it to Moses for the children of Israel.

Deut. 9:10 (NASB)
“And the
LORD gave me the two tablets of stone written by the finger of God
; and on them were all the words which the LORD had spoken with you at the mountain from the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly.

Deut. 9:15-17 (NASB)
“So I turned and came down from the mountain while the mountain was burning with fire, and the two tablets of the covenant were in my two hands. [16] “And I saw that you had indeed sinned against the LORD your God. You had made for yourselves a molten calf; you had turned aside quickly from the way which the LORD had commanded you. [17] “And I took hold of the two tablets and threw them from my hands, and smashed them before your eyes.

Deut. 10:1-5 (NASB)
“At that time the LORD said to me, ‘Cut out for yourself two tablets of stone like the former ones, and come up to Me on the mountain, and make an ark of wood for yourself. [2] ‘And I will write on the tablets the words that were on the former tablets which you shattered, and you shall put them in the ark.’ [3] “So I made an ark of acacia wood and cut out two tablets of stone like the former ones, and went up on the mountain with the two tablets in my hand. [4] “
And He wrote on the tablets, like the former writing, the Ten Commandments which the LORD had spoken to you on the mountain from the midst of the fire on the day of the assembly; and the LORD gave them to me
. [5] “Then I turned and came down from the mountain, and put the tablets in the ark which I had made; and there they are, as the LORD commanded me.”

Isaiah 33:22 (NASB)
For the LORD is our judge,
The LORD is our lawgiver
The LORD is our king;
He will save us–

James 4:12 (NASB)
There is only one Lawgiver and Judge, the One who is able to save and to destroy
; but who are you who judge your neighbor?

This is why Jesus the “Lawgiver” spoke the way He did about the law in Matthew.

Matthew 5:17-18 (NASB)
“Do not think that I came to abolish the Law or the Prophets; I did not come to abolish, but to fulfill. [18] “
For truly I say to you, until heaven and earth pass away, not the smallest letter or stroke shall pass away from the Law, until all is accomplished

Joshua (Jesus) Messiah (Christ), the Word, the I AM and LORD God, the Lawgiver gave up His Glory as God and was born of a woman by the Holy Spirit of God (His Power) and became flesh and blood like you and I.

Philip. 2:5-8 (NASB)
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, [6]
who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped,
but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men
. [8]
And being found in appearance as a man
, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross.

Hebrews 2:14 (NASB)
Since then the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same
, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil;

John 1:14 (NASB)
And the
Word became flesh, and dwelt among us
, and we beheld His glory, glory as of
the only begotten from the Father
, full of grace and truth.

Romans 1:3 (NASB)
concerning His Son,
who was born of a descendant of David according to the flesh

Galatians 4:4 (NASB)
But when the fulness of the time came,
God sent forth His Son, born of a woman
, born under the Law,

Romans 8:3 (NASB)
For what the Law could not do, weak as it was through the flesh,
God did: sending His own Son in the likeness of sinful flesh and as an offering for sin
, He condemned sin in the flesh,

Luke 1:26-35 (NASB)
Now in the sixth month the angel Gabriel was sent from God to a city in Galilee, called Nazareth, [27] to a virgin engaged to a man whose name was Joseph, of the descendants of David; and the virgin’s name was Mary. [28] And coming in, he said to her, “Hail, favored one! The Lord is with you.” [29] But she was greatly troubled at this statement, and kept pondering what kind of salutation this might be. [30] And the angel said to her, “Do not be afraid, Mary; for you have found favor with God. [31] “And behold, you will conceive in your womb, and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus. [32] “He will be great, and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David; [33] and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever; and His kingdom will have no end.” [34] And Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I am a virgin?” [35] And the angel answered and said to her, “
The Holy Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Most High will overshadow you; and for that reason the holy offspring shall be called the Son of God

An angel of the Lord revealed to Joseph that his espoused wife Mary was going to give birth to a son, by the Holy Spirit.

Matthew 1:18-23 (NASB)
Now the birth of Jesus Christ was as follows. When His mother Mary had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. [19] And Joseph her husband, being a righteous man, and not wanting to disgrace her, desired to put her away secretly. [20] But when he had considered this, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, “
, son of David,
do not be afraid to take Mary as your wife; for that which has been conceived in her is of the Holy Spirit
. [21] “And she will bear a Son; and you shall call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins.” [22] Now all this took place that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, saying, [23] “Behold, the virgin shall be with CHILD, AND SHALL BEAR A Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which translated means, “God with us.”

We now can truly understand the meaning “
God with us

Joseph and Mary were Jews and the lived in Nazareth of Galilee and the common language spoken there was Aramaic. Gabriel and an angel of the Lord said the Child was to be named Jesus. Jesus is the Greek translation equal to the Hebrew name Joshua.

NASB Dictionary:
Iesous, Greek 2424, of Hebrew origin Hebrew 3091 (Yehoshua or Yehoshua); Jesus or Joshua, the name of the Messiah, also three other Israelites :- Jesus(903), Jesus'(7), Joshua(3).

NASB Dictionary:
Yehoshua or Yehoshua, Hebrew 3091, [221c]; from Hebrew 3068 (Yhvh) and Hebrew 3467 (yasha); “the LORD is salvation,” Moses’ successor, also the name of a number of Israelites :- Jeshua(28), Joshua(219).

Notice the meaning of the name Joshua (Yehoshua or Yehoshua) means “
the LORD is salvation
“. This is why the angel in Joseph’s dream revealed “
for it is He who will save His people from their sins.
I personally, as you may have noticed, like to use the name Joshua when speaking of Jesus for two reasons.
1. He was called Joshua by His relitives, His disciples and many of His acquaintances. The Jewish leaders also would have called Him by the Hebrew name Joshua.
2. Today in our society the name Jesus Christ has been used many times in an empty and vain way. There is no scripture requiring someone to use the name Joshua instead of Jesus.

The Word (God), the LORD God, Lawgiver, is the One Who became Joshua (Jesus), “the LORD is salvation”, to save His people from their sins (anyone who is saved from their sins become His people).
What is sin?

1 John 3:4 (KJV)
Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law:
for sin is the transgression
of the law
anomia, Greek 458, Strong’s, an-om-ee’-ah; from Greek 459 (anomos); illegality, i.e. violation of law or (genitive) wickedness :- iniquity, … transgress (-ion of) the law, unrighteousness.

1 John 3:4 (NASB)
Everyone who practices sin also practices lawlessness;
and sin is lawlessness
Sin is lawlessness or violation of the law. We have laws in our society and we know what it means to break the law. When we speak of God’s Word and breaking the law it is His Law that is being broken.

What is the penilty for sin?

Romans 6:23 (NASB)
For the wages of sin is death

1 Cor. 15:56 (NASB)
The sting of death is sin
, and the power of sin is the law;

Death is an enemy of us because it ends our life.

Hebrews 2:14-15 (NASB)
Since then the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same, that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil; [15] and might deliver those
who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives

1 Cor. 15:26 (NASB)
The last enemy that will be abolished is death.

What is death? When God created man He breathed the breath of life into him and he became a living soul.

Genesis 2:7 (KJV)
And the Lord God formed man of the dust of the ground,
and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul

The LORD God (the One Who became Jesus Christ) instructed man to obey His command concerning “the tree of the knowledge of good and evil” and that if man disobeyed Him he would die.

Genesis 2:15-17 (NASB)
Then the LORD God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. [16] And the LORD God commanded the man, saying, “From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; [17]
but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you shall surely die.

Death is the result of sin, so disobeying God is sin. Eve told the serpent that they were not to even touch the tree.

Genesis 3:3 (NASB)
but from the fruit of the tree which is in the middle of the garden, God has said, ‘
You shall not eat from it or touch it, lest you die.
‘ “

Adam and Eve understood they were not to touch or eat of the tree. They sinned.

Genesis 3:6 (NASB)
When the woman saw that the tree was good for food, and that it was a delight to the eyes, and that the tree was desirable to make one wise, she took from its fruit and ate; and she gave also to her husband with her, and he ate.

God told Adam what would become of him because he sinned.

Genesis 3:19 (NASB)
By the sweat of your face
You shall eat bread,
Till you return to the ground,

Because from it you were taken;

For you are dust,

And to dust you shall return.

Sin causes man to die (become a dead soul).

Ezekiel 18:4 (KJV)
Behold, all souls are mine; as the soul of the father, so also the soul of the son is mine:
the soul that sinneth, it shall die

Ezekiel 18:20 (KJV)
The soul that sinneth, it shall die
. The son shall not bear the iniquity of the father, neither shall the father bear the iniquity of the son: the righteousness of the righteous shall be upon him, and the wickedness of the wicked shall be upon him.

We also know everyone dies because of sin.

Romans 5:12 (NASB)
Therefore, just as
through one man sin entered into the world, and death through sin, and so death spread to all men, because all sinned

We know “all have sinned”.

Romans 3:23 (NASB)
for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God,

What happens to a man after he dies?

Psalm 146:4 (NASB)
His spirit departs, he returns to the earth;
In that very day his thoughts perish.

Eccles. 9:5-6 (KJV)
For the living know that they shall die:
but the dead know not any thing, neither have they any more a reward
; for the memory of them is forgotten.
Also their love, and their hatred, and their envy, is now perished; neither have they any more a portion for ever in any thing that is done under the sun

Eccles. 9:10 (KJV)
Whatsoever thy hand findeth to do, do it with thy might;
for there is no work, nor device, nor knowledge, nor wisdom, in the grave, whither thou goest

Note: Some believe that those who were righteous like, Noah, Moses, and Elijah went to heaven when they died. What did Jesus say about that?

John 3:10-13 (NASB)
Jesus answered and said to him, “Are you the teacher of Israel, and do not understand these things? [11] “Truly, truly, I say to you, we speak that which we know, and bear witness of that which we have seen; and you do not receive our witness. [12] “If I told you earthly things and you do not believe, how shall you believe if I tell you heavenly things? [13] “
And no one has ascended into heaven
, but He who descended from heaven, even the Son of Man.

How can we possibly escape this death? The angel of the Lord had informed Joseph in his dream,

Matthew 1:21 (NASB)
“And she will bear a Son;
and you shall call His name Jesus
, for it is He who will save His people from their sins

Joshua (Jesus) Messiah (Christ) as LORD God of the old testament (covenant) spoke to Moses and said for him to tell the children of Israel how they could be forgiven of sin.

Leviticus 4:28 (NASB)
if his sin, which he has committed is made known to him, then he shall bring for his offering a goat, a female without defect, for his sin which he has committed.

Leviticus 4:32-35 (NASB)
‘But if he brings a lamb as his offering for a sin offering, he shall bring it, a female without defect. [33] ‘And he shall lay his hand on the head of the sin offering, and slay it for a sin offering in the place where they slay the burnt offering. [34] ‘And the priest is to take some of the blood of the sin offering with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering; and all the rest of its blood he shall pour out at the base of the altar. [35] ‘Then he shall remove all its fat, just as the fat of the lamb is removed from the sacrifice of the peace offerings, and the priest shall offer them up in smoke on the altar, on the offerings by fire to the Lord.
Thus the priest shall make atonement for him in regard to his sin which he has committed, and he shall be forgiven.

Notice all of Leviticus chapters 4 and 5 regarding this forgiveness of sins.

Notice what John the Baptist said about Jesus (Joshua) Christ (Messiah).

John 1:29 (NASB)
The next day he saw Jesus coming to him, and said, “
Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world!

John 1:35-36 (NASB)
Again the next day John was standing with two of his disciples, [36] and he looked upon Jesus as He walked, and said, “
Behold, the Lamb of God!

Jesus lived on this earth like one of us and was tempted in the same way we are, but He never sinned.

1 Peter 2:21-24 (NASB)
For you have been called for this purpose, since Christ also suffered for you, leaving you an example for you to follow in His steps, [22]
, NOR WAS ANY DECEIT FOUND IN His mouth; [23] and while being reviled, He did not revile in return; while suffering, He uttered no threats, but kept entrusting Himself to Him who judges righteously; [24]
and He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross
, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness;
for by His wounds you were healed

Isaiah 53:4-6 (KJV)
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows: yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. [5]
But he was wounded for our transgressions
, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. [6] All we like sheep have gone astray; we have turned every one to his own way;
and the LORD hath laid on him the iniquity of us all

Hebrews 4:14-15 (NASB)
Since then we have a great high priest who has passed through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our confession. [15] For we do not have a high priest who cannot sympathize with our weaknesses, but
One who has been tempted in all things as we are, yet without sin

Joshua Messiah was tempted just like we are, yet He never sinned. He became sin for us and paid the penilty for sin, death.

2 Cor. 5:20-21 (NASB)
Therefore, we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God were entreating through us; we beg you on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God. [21]
He made Him who knew no sin to be sin on our behalf
, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him.

Sin separates one from God.

Isaiah 59:1-2 (NASB)
Behold, the Lord’s hand is not so short
That it cannot save;
Neither is His ear so dull
That it cannot hear.
But your iniquities have made a separation between you and your God,
And your sins have hidden His face from you
, so that He does not hear.

Despite never sinning Jesus Christ died and paid the penilty for sin and became sin for us. He was separated from His Father just before He died.

Matthew 27:45-50 (NASB)
Now from the sixth hour darkness fell upon all the land until the ninth hour. [46] And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?” that is, “
My God, My God, why hast Thou forsaken Me?
” [47] And some of those who were standing there, when they heard it, began saying, “This man is calling for Elijah.” [48] And immediately one of them ran, and taking a sponge, he filled it with sour wine, and put it on a reed, and gave Him a drink. [49] But the rest of them said, “Let us see
whether Elijah will come to save Him
.” [50]
And Jesus cried out again with a loud voice, and yielded up His spirit.
NASB margin notes:
Lit., Permit that we see
Some early manuscripts add And another took a spear and pierced His side, and there came out water and blood; cf. John 19:34.

He died alone paying the penilty for sin.
Jesus (Joshua) Christ (Messiah) died in order that there can be forgiveness and complete purification of sins. He is raised form the dead in order that there can be salvation. He is alive!

The first four books of the new testament show us four separate times Mary Magdalene and others visited the tomb where He had been laid and on two of those occasions He was seen alive. See the bible study “God’s Holy Convocations (Sabbaths and Yearly Feasts): The Wave Sheaf and Firstfruits (Pentecost)” for the sequence of events surrounding the resurrection of Joshua (Jesus) Messiah (Christ).

Acts 2:22-24 (NASB)
“Men of Israel, listen to these words:
Jesus the Nazarene
, a man attested to you by God with miracles and wonders and signs which God performed through Him in your midst, just as you yourselves know– [23] this Man, delivered up by the predetermined plan and foreknowledge of God, you nailed to a cross by the hands of godless men and put Him to death. [24] “
And God raised Him up again, putting an end to the agony of death
, since it was impossible for Him to be held in its power.

Hebrews 2:9-15 (NASB)
But we do see Him who has been made for a little while lower than the angels, namely,
Jesus, because of the suffering of death crowned with glory and honor, that by the grace of God He might taste death for everyone
. [10] For it was fitting for Him, for whom are all things, and through whom are all things, in bringing many sons to glory, to perfect the author of their salvation through sufferings. [11] For both He who sanctifies and those who are sanctified are all from one Father; for which reason He is not ashamed to call them brethren, [12] saying,
“I will proclaim Thy name to My brethren,
In the midst of the CONGREGATION I will sing Thy praise.”
[13] And again,
“I will put My trust in Him.”
And again,
“Behold, I and the children whom God has given Me.”
[14] Since then the children share in flesh and blood, He Himself likewise also partook of the same,
that through death He might render powerless him who had the power of death, that is, the devil
; [15]
and might deliver those who through fear of death were subject to slavery all their lives.

Jesus (Joshua) Christ (Messiah), because of His death and resurrection ended the “agony” and rendered the devil powerless by ending the fear of death. He demonstrated the Power of God over death when He raised to life the only son of the widow in the city of Nain.

Luke 7:11-16 (NASB)
And it came about soon afterwards, that He went to a city called Nain; and His disciples were going along with Him, accompanied by a large multitude. [12] Now as He approached the gate of the city, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a sizeable crowd from the city was with her. [13] And when the Lord saw her, He felt compassion for her, and said to her, “Do not weep.” [14] And He came up and touched the coffin; and the bearers came to a halt. And He said, “
Young man, I say to you, arise!
” [15]
And the dead man sat up, and began to speak. And Jesus gave him back to his mother.
[16] And fear gripped them all, and they began glorifying God, saying, “A great prophet has arisen among us!” and, “God has visited His people!”

In fact He compared death with sleep when He gave life to Jairus’ daughter and Lazarus.

Luke 8:41-42 (NASB)
And behold, there came a man named Jairus, and he was an official of the synagogue; and he fell at Jesus’ feet, and began to entreat Him to come to his house; [42] for he had an only daughter, about twelve years old, and she was dying. But as He went, the multitudes were pressing against Him.

Mark 5:35-43 (NASB)
While He was still speaking, they came from the house of the synagogue official, saying, “Your daughter has died; why trouble the Teacher anymore?” [36] But Jesus, overhearing what was being spoken, said to the synagogue official, “Do not be afraid any longer, only believe.” [37] And He allowed no one to follow with Him, except Peter and James and John the brother of James. [38] And they came to the house of the synagogue official; and He beheld a commotion, and people loudly weeping and wailing. [39] And entering in,
He said to them, “Why make a commotion and weep? The child has not died, but is asleep.
” [40] And they began laughing at Him. But putting them all out, He took along the child’s father and mother and His own companions, and entered the room where the child was. [41] And taking the child by the hand, He said to her, “Talitha kum!” (which translated means, “
Little girl, I say to you, arise!
“). [42]
And immediately the girl rose and began to walk
; for she was twelve years old. And immediately they were completely astounded. [43] And He gave them strict orders that no one should know about this; and He said that something should be given her to eat.

In John 11 Joshua Messiah spoke of Lazarus being asleep and His disciples thought He meant like someone asleep at night or a nap.

John 11:11-44 (NASB)
This He said, and after that He said to them, “
Our friend Lazarus has fallen asleep; but I go, that I may awaken him out of sleep.
” [12]
The disciples therefore said to Him, “Lord, if he has fallen asleep, he will recover.”
Now Jesus had spoken of his death, but they thought that He was speaking of literal sleep.
Then Jesus therefore said to them plainly, “Lazarus is dead
, [15] and I am glad for your sakes that I was not there, so that you may believe; but let us go to him.” [16] Thomas therefore, who is called Didymus, said to his fellow disciples, “Let us also go, that we may die with Him.”
[17] So when Jesus came, He found that he had already been in the tomb four days. [18] Now Bethany was near Jerusalem, about two miles off; [19] and many of the Jews had come to Martha and Mary, to console them concerning their brother. [20] Martha therefore, when she heard that Jesus was coming, went to meet Him; but Mary still sat in the house. [21] Martha therefore said to Jesus, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died. [22] “Even now I know that whatever You ask of God, God will give You.” [23] Jesus said to her, “Your brother shall rise again.” [24] Martha said to Him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” [25] Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life; he who believes in Me shall live even if he dies, [26] and everyone who lives and believes in Me shall never die. Do you believe this?” [27] She said to Him, “Yes, Lord; I have believed that You are the Christ, the Son of God, even He who comes into the world.” [28] And when she had said this, she went away, and called Mary her sister, saying secretly, “The Teacher is here, and is calling for you.” [29] And when she heard it, she arose quickly, and was coming to Him.
[30] Now Jesus had not yet come into the village, but was still in the place where Martha met Him. [31] The Jews then who were with her in the house, and consoling her, when they saw that Mary rose up quickly and went out, followed her, supposing that she was going to the tomb to weep there. [32] Therefore, when Mary came where Jesus was, she saw Him, and fell at His feet, saying to Him, “Lord, if You had been here, my brother would not have died.” [33] When Jesus therefore saw her weeping, and the Jews who came with her, also weeping, He was deeply moved in spirit, and was troubled, [34] and said, “Where have you laid him?” They said to Him, “Lord, come and see.” [35] Jesus wept. [36] And so the Jews were saying, “Behold how He loved him!” [37] But some of them said, “Could not this man, who opened the eyes of him who was blind, have kept this man also from dying?”
[38] Jesus therefore again being deeply moved within, came to the tomb. Now it was a cave, and a stone was lying against it. [39] Jesus said, “Remove the stone.” Martha, the sister of the deceased, said to Him, “Lord, by this time there will be a stench, for he has been dead four days.” [40] Jesus said to her, “Did I not say to you, if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” [41] And so they removed the stone. And Jesus raised His eyes, and said, “Father, I thank Thee that Thou heardest Me. [42] “And I knew that Thou hearest Me always; but because of the people standing around I said it, that they may believe that Thou didst send Me.” [43] And when He had said these things,
He cried out with a loud voice, “Lazarus, come forth.”
He who had died came forth
, bound hand and foot with wrappings; and his face was wrapped around with a cloth. Jesus said to them, “
Unbind him, and let him go.

Jesus was testifying that the Power of God made death no more then as if someone was asleep. He showed the ability of God to awake someone from death. He made this fact clear.

John 5:19-29 (NASB)
Jesus therefore answered and was saying to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, unless it is something He sees the Father doing; for whatever the Father does, these things the Son also does in like manner. [20] “For the Father loves the Son, and shows Him all things that He Himself is doing; and greater works than these will He show Him, that you may marvel. [21] “
For just as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom He wishes.
[22] “For not even the Father judges anyone, but He has given all judgment to the Son, [23] in order that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent Him. [24] “Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears My word, and believes Him who sent Me, has eternal life, and does not come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. [25] “
Truly, truly, I say to you, an hour is coming and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God; and those who hear shall live.
[26] “For just as the Father has life in Himself, even so He gave to the Son also to have life in Himself; [27] and He gave Him authority to execute judgment, because He is the Son of Man. [28] “
Do not marvel at this; for an hour is coming, in which all who are in the tombs shall hear His voice,
and shall come forth; those who did the good deeds to a resurrection of life, those who committed the evil deeds to a resurrection of judgment.

Those who have died are asleep!

The bible study “God’s Holy Convocations (weekly and yearly Sabbaths ): The Feast of Tabernacles” discusses in detail the resurrections from the dead.

He is alive, glorified and at the right hand of God the Father.

Acts 2:32-36 (NASB)
This Jesus God raised up again
, to which we are all witnesses. [33] “Therefore having been exalted to the right hand of God, and having received from the Father the promise of the Holy Spirit, He has poured forth this which you both see and hear. [34] “For it was not David who ascended into heaven, but he himself says:
‘The Lord said to my Lord,
“Sit at My right hand,
[35] Until I make Thine enemies a footstool for Thy feet.” ‘
[36] “Therefore let all the house of Israel know for certain
that God has made Him both Lord and Christ
— this Jesus whom you crucified.”

Hebrews 1:1-3 (KJV)
God, who at sundry times and in divers manners spake in time past unto the fathers by the prophets, [2] Hath in these last days spoken unto us by his Son, whom he hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also he made the worlds; [3] Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person, and upholding all things by the word of his power,
when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high

Philip. 2:5-11 (NASB)
Have this attitude in yourselves which was also in Christ Jesus, [6] who, although He existed in the form of God, did not regard equality with God a thing to be grasped, [7] but emptied Himself, taking the form of a bond-servant, and being made in the likeness of men. [8] And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself by becoming obedient to the point of death, even death on a cross. [9]
Therefore also God highly exalted Him, and bestowed on Him the name which is above every name
, [10]
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those who are in heaven, and on earth, and under the earth,
and that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.

Acts 5:30-31 (NASB)
The God of our fathers raised up Jesus
, whom you had put to death by hanging Him on a cross. [31] “
He is the one whom God exalted to His right hand as a Prince and a Savior
, to grant repentance to Israel, and forgiveness of sins.

Hebrews 8:1 (NASB)
Now the main point in what has been said is this: we have such a high priest,
who has taken His seat at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens

This Joshua (Jesus) Messiah (Christ) Who is alive and glorified and at the right hand of God the Father is going to return to this earth, not to suffer and be humiliated, but in great awsome Power to rule the earth as King of kings and LORD of lords.

Hebrews 9:28 (KJV)
So Christ was once offered to bear the sins of many; and unto them that look for him
shall he appear the second time without sin unto salvation

Salvation is saving [or rescuing] someone or from harm.

The day He ascended from this earth and went to God the Father’s Throne two men in white clothing told His followers that He would return.

Acts 1:6-12 (NASB)
And so when they had come together, they were asking Him, saying, “Lord, is it at this time You are restoring the kingdom to Israel?” [7] He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or epochs which the Father has fixed by His own authority; [8] but you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be My witnesses both in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and even to the remotest part of the earth.” [9]
And after He had said these things, He was lifted up while they were looking on, and a cloud received Him out of their sight
Acts 1:[10] And as they were gazing intently into the sky while He was departing, behold,
two men in white clothing stood beside them
; [11]
and they also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand looking into the sky? This Jesus, who has been taken up from you into heaven, will come in just the same way as you have watched Him go into heaven.”

Then they returned to Jerusalem from the mount called Olivet
, which is near Jerusalem, a Sabbath day’s journey away.

His disciples watched Joshua (Jesus) disappear in a cloud and they were told He would return in the same way. Jesus (Joshua) himself had told Peter, Andrew, James and John that He would come in clouds with Power and Glory.

Mark 13:3 (NASB)
And as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives opposite the temple, Peter and James and John and Andrew were questioning Him privately,

Mark 13:26 (NASB)
“And then they will see the Son of Man COMING IN CLOUDS with great power and glory.

Matthew 24:3 (NASB)
And as He was sitting on the Mount of Olives, the disciples came to Him privately, saying, “Tell us, when will these things be, and what will be the sign of Your coming, and of the end of the age?”

Matthew 24:27 (NASB)
“For just as the lightning comes from the east, and flashes even to the west, so shall the coming of the Son of Man be.

Matthew 24:30 (NASB)
and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory.

Luke 21:27 (NASB)
“And then they will see the Son of Man coming in a cloud with power and great glory.

He told the high priest and the Jews of this when they were accusing Him and condemning Him to death.

Matthew 26:59-64 (NASB)
Now the chief priests and the whole Council kept trying to obtain false testimony against Jesus, in order that they might put Him to death; [60] and they did not find any, even though many false witnesses came forward. But later on two came forward, [61] and said, “This man stated, ‘I am able to destroy the temple of God and to rebuild it in three days.’ ” [62] And the high priest stood up and said to Him, “Do You make no answer? What is it that these men are testifying against You?” [63] But Jesus kept silent.
And the high priest said to Him
, “I adjure You by the living God, that You tell us whether You are the Christ, the Son of God.” [64]
Jesus said to him
, “You have said it yourself; nevertheless I tell you,
hereafter you shall see the Son of Man sitting at the right hand of Power, and coming on the clouds of heaven

Joshua spoke of returning and receiving His followers to Himself.

John 14:1-3 (NASB)
“Let not your heart be troubled; believe in God, believe also in Me. [2] “In My Father’s house are many dwelling places; if it were not so, I would have told you; for I go to prepare a place for you. [3] “And if I go and prepare a place for you,
I will come again, and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also

Matthew 24:30-31 (NASB)
and then the sign of the Son of Man will appear in the sky, and then all the tribes of the earth will mourn, and they will see the Son of Man coming on the clouds of the sky with power and great glory. [31] “
And He will send forth His angels with a great trumpet and they will gather together His elect from the four winds, from one end of the sky to the other

The apostle Paul tells us the first thing that will happen when Joshua (Jesus) Messiah (Christ) returns.

1 Thes. 4:13-18 (NASB)
But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, that you may not grieve, as do the rest who have no hope. [14] For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus. [15] For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive, and remain until the coming of the Lord, shall not precede those who have fallen asleep. [16]
For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet of God; and the dead in Christ shall rise first.
Then we who are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and thus we shall always be with the Lord.
[18] Therefore comfort one another with these words.

Those who are in Christ are the children of God.
Please read the bible study “Called to be in the body of Jesus Christ, which is the Church of God”.

He also spoke of this event in 1 Corinthians 15.

1 Cor. 15:42-57 (KJV)
So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown in corruption; it is raised in incorruption: [43] It is sown in dishonour; it is raised in glory: it is sown in weakness; it is raised in power: [44] It is sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a natural body, and there is a spiritual body. [45] And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. [46] Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual. [47] The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven. [48] As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly. [49] And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
[50] Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood cannot inherit the kingdom of God; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption. [51]
Behold, I shew you a mystery; We shall not all sleep, but we shall all be changed,
In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trump: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.
[53] For this corruptible must put on incorruption, and this mortal must put on immortality. [54] So when this corruptible shall have put on incorruption, and this mortal shall have put on immortality, then shall be brought to pass the saying that is written, Death is swallowed up in victory. [55] O death, where is thy sting? O grave, where is thy victory? [56] The sting of death is sin; and the strength of sin is the law. [57] But thanks be to God, which giveth us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

This promise is sure and will soon happen.

Hebrews 6:18 (NASB)
in order that by two unchangeable things, in which it
is impossible for God to lie
, we may have strong encouragement, we who have fled for refuge in laying hold of the hope set before us.

Numbers 23:19 (NASB)
“God is not a man, that He should lie,
Nor a son of man, that He should repent;
Has He said, and will He not do it?
Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good?

Titus 1:1-2 (NASB)
Paul, a bond-servant of God, and an apostle of Jesus Christ, for the faith of those chosen of God and the knowledge of the truth which is according to godliness, [2] in the hope of eternal life,
which God, who cannot lie, promised long ages ago

Joshua (Jesus) Messiah (Christ) will return to the Mount of Olives (the same place from which He ascended to heaven) and rule the earth.

Rev. 19:11-16 (NASB)
And I saw heaven opened; and behold, a white horse, and He who sat upon it is called Faithful and True; and in righteousness He judges and wages war. [12] And His eyes are a flame of fire, and upon His head are many diadems; and He has a name written upon Him which no one knows except Himself. [13] And He is clothed with a robe dipped in blood; and
His name is called The Word of God
. [14] And the armies which are in heaven, clothed in fine linen, white and clean, were following Him on white horses. [15] And from His mouth comes a sharp sword, so that with it He may smite the nations;
and He will rule them with a rod of iron
; and He treads the wine press of the fierce wrath of God, the Almighty. [16] And on His robe and on His thigh He has a name written, “KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS.”

Zech. 14:3-9 (NASB)
Then the LORD will go forth and fight against those nations, as when He fights on a day of battle. [4]
And in that day His feet will stand on the Mount of Olives
, which is in front of Jerusalem on the east; and the Mount of Olives will be split in its middle from east to west by a very large valley, so that half of the mountain will move toward the north and the other half toward the south. [5] And you will flee by the valley of My mountains, for the valley of the mountains will reach to Azel; yes, you will flee just as you fled before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah. Then the LORD, my God, will come, and all the holy ones with Him! [6] And it will come about in that day that there will be no light; the luminaries will dwindle. [7] For it will be a unique day which is known to the LORD, neither day nor night, but it will come about that at evening time there will be light. [8] And it will come about in that day that living waters will flow out of Jerusalem, half of them toward the eastern sea and the other half toward the western sea; it will be in summer as well as in winter.
[9] And
the LORD will be king over all the earth
; in that day the LORD will be the only one, and His name the only one.

Joshua (Jesus) Messiah (Christ), Word, Creator, LORD God, Savior, High Priest will rule this earth!

Hebrews 13:8 (KJV)
Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever.
